Fall Run 2006
We had some fun with the fly rods this fall. I love my fibre glass 8wt. and still smile as I remember leaning into it with no mercy against salmon after salmon. Even a trout or two in the mix. This fine migratory Brown Trout goes over 30 inches and weighed about 15 lbs.
A flexible work schedule helped get us to the river at the optimum time, a few times. 'Fish-in-a-barrel" at its best. A fun distraction at a time when the downriggers were frustrating me big time! The Chinooks were so aggressive at times, they would fight and body check each other to get to your fly. Other times you actually had to make a few drifts and try.
In between the Chinooks were a few nice Browns and Rainbows depending on the day that we were there.
Fish Guy picked the right days to go. Here's a nice bow and the flies he loves!
We were also blessed with a big Coho run one day.

8 wt. Coho action! What fun. One and only one Chinook got out off the pool on me this fall. This little missile went wherever it wanted!!! A tasty fresh fall run fish. One of the very few to go to the pan this year!
Fish Guy shows off his best Brown of the year, 13ish. This fish also has my vote for best looking fish.
Fishman_01 sent me this fine pic. Fresh Chinook Salmon.
Find 'em fresh, when they bite, and have lots of fun! We know!
Soaking wet and loving it!
Bad for photos for sure but who cares when one fish after another, the fish entered the pool, whichever pool, and gave me a go on the old 8wt. meat stick
Any fish anytime !!
The Catching....
And the releasing!
The very hardest part of fishing like this is NOT foul hooking. All fish shown here were legally hooked and landed.
Please do the same and be sure to report anglers that snag any fish !
Not on a fly, but I just gotta show it off. My only muskie of the year, an accident during salmon season.
